Meet the National Environmental & Occupational Safety Training, Inc. Executive Board of Directors.

Executive Director: Sheldon Primus

Sheldon Primus is a Certified Occupational Safety Specialist with a Masters of Public Administration with a concentration in Environmental Policy. Sheldon is part of the first class of 6 operators to receive the Professional Operator (PO) designation from the Certification Commission of Environmental Professionals (C2EP) of the Association of Boards of Certification (ABC). He has been in the environmental and occupational safety field since 1994. Additionally, he is a trainer for the Certified Occupational Safety Specialist program of the Alliance Safety Council-Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Sheldon is an authorized OSHA General Industry and Construction trainer for the 10 and 30-hour Outreach program.

Mr. Primus is a guest columnist for the online publications of Treatment Plant Operator (TPO) and WaterOnline. He has written article regarding regulatory compliance, operator safety, and wastewater process control. Additionally, he conducts OSHA compliance webinars for Audio Solutionz, Online Compliance Panel, Compliance Online, Compliance World, and Compliance Key.

 Currently, Sheldon is the owner/CEO of Utility Compliance Inc.  and its subsidiary, OSHA Compliance Help, an international safety consulting, training, and a regulatory agency compliance assistance company based in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Mr. Primus served as part of the Water Environmental Federation (WEF) Water Sector Safety Committee and the US Department of Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) taskforce on All Hazards Communication training for the Water and Wastewater Sector.

Vice President: Deborah Martinez

With 20 years in the nonprofit arena she has held positions such as Executive Director and Senior Director for Professional Development and Conferences with responsibility of managing over 55 meetings annually world-wide. Currently she is the Managing Director for Covenant Business Solutions, a veteran owned business headquartered in Washington, D.C.

Covenant combines more than 20 years’ experience with client-service excellence in the private, education and government sectors. We deliver specialized services in four key areas – association management, meeting management, information technology services, and media services.

In 2013, Ms. Martinez was selected as one of the top 25 Women in Diverse Issues in Higher Education.

Treasurer: Keven Yarbrough

Mr. Yarbrough was previously The Assistant Area Director in the Tampa Area Office of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration OSHA.  In addition to his supervisory duties, Mr. Yarbrough provided advice and guidance to the general public to promote voluntary compliance with OSHA’s safety and health standards.

Keven Yarbrough is presently the owner and President of Yarbrough Safety Solutions Inc. Mr. Yarbrough prides himself in his ability to guide employers through the maze of OSHA regulations.  Yarbrough Safety Solutions is a full service safety consulting company providing safety training, safety audits, safety program review, on site assistance during OSHA inspections and Assist employers seeking relief at Informal conferences following an inspection.

Mr. Yarbrough began his employment with the U.S Department of Labor in 1990 as an OSHA Field Compliance Officer conducting inspections of industries such as but not limited to, Construction, General Industry and Manufacturing and in the Maritime and Shipbuilding Trades.  Prior to OSHA, Mr. Yarbrough was employed as the Occupational Safety and Health Specialist and Radiological Protection Officer for the U.S. Department of Army at Seneca Army Depot, Geneva NY, prior to that Mr. Yarbrough served as the Construction and Economic Development Coordinator for the City of Asbury Park, New Jersey.

Mr. Yarbrough holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Education from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and a Heronry Doctorate of humane Letters from Everest University.  Mr. Yarbrough is also a graduate of the United States Army Material Command Safety Center where he specialized in Ammunition and Explosive Safety.  He is also a graduate from the Command and General Staff College of the Army.  Mr. Yarbrough is a Reserve Deputy Sheriff with the Hillsborough County Sheriffs’ Office.

Secretary: Ari Copeland

I have 11 years of experience in the Water and Wastewater field including compliance, basic design, operations of both water and wastewater facilities, writing O&M manuals, sampling, conducting water quality research, providing operator training, and volunteer/project management.  I hold active Water A Operator’s license and Wastewater B Operator’s license in additional to a professional water operator’s destination issued by ABC. I enjoy teaching others and encouraging the future generations to obtain careers in the Water Profession.  I am truly passionate about Water and Wastewater Treatment and take the responsibility of Plant Operations very seriously.

Besides my regular work tasks, I have held multiple professional organization leadership roles with the FL Section of the AWWA, as well as in the Rocky Mountain Section of AWWA. I have been a member of AWWA for 10 years and I am the recent past chair of the AWWA Treatment Plant Operations and Maintenance committee (TPOM) under the Distribution and Plant Operations Division (DPOD).

I have taught at four community colleges (Pinellas County Technical Education, Hillsborough Community College, Red Rocks Community College and Florida Gateway College) as well as provided various trainings at my current position at Black & Veatch.

Bookkeeper: Mariann Primus

Mariann Primus taught for the Florida public school system for over 16 years, primarily with students with a variety of special needs. She is currently an independent business owner of Ommazing Kids, LLC, offering resources in social skills, emotional self-regulation, and children’s yoga to teachers, parents, and schools to gift children with life long tools. She is passionate about education and recognizes the need for post-secondary school options for young adults. Her organization, experience, and dedication to education is a benefit to this organization.
